AHOMEAWAY FROM HOME
Luckyarethosewhoattheendofthedaycanlookforwardtothewarmthandsecurityofahome. Ahomeisa'haven'whenthe family is loving and supportive. Unfortunately, there are many who have miserable and unbearable homes, wherelivingbecomesaburdenandanypretexttoescapeiswelcome.Rafiq* one of our students lost his mother when he was very small. He was staying with his paternal uncle and aunt inGaya,BihartillSSCandthencametoMumbaitolivewithhisfather,stepmotherand5stepsistersand2stepbrothersallyoungerthanhim.Withsomanychildren,themotherhadnotimeforhouseworkandthebruntofalltheworkfellonRafiq.Hehadnorest,nofacilities,onlywork,workandwork. Besides,thetreatmentmetedouttohimwasfarfromkindnessandconsideration.Hisfathertoowasunjustinhisattitudeandbehaviourtowardshim.Rafiqwasveryunhappyandlongedfor adifferenceinhislife. Inspiteofbeinganintelligentboy,hewasfaringmiserably. Hisresultswereverydisappointing.MESCO became a saviour for this student in distress. With the kind and generous support of a well wisher, Rafiq wasadmitted to Jaffer Suleman Hostel where he discovered a new world for himself. In the company of friends and theprotection of the Hostel authorities, he was livelier, and a more cheerful person. Studies, too had improved considerably. At the Diploma in Engg at Saboo Siddik Polytechnic, Rafiq secured an outstanding score of 71.18%. A wonderfulachievement!He continued with Degree in Engg and scored 70% at the Final exam. Currently, he is working with InfosysTechnologiesLtdasaSoftwareEngineer.HehasplanstogototheUSforprofessionalenhancement.Rafiqbecameahappyandconfidentpersononlybecausehemovedtoamorecongenialandcaringenvironmentwherehefeltwantedandloved.WiththehelpofAlmightyandbenevolentbenefactors,RafiqhasatlastreachedHOME.

Appeal:Annual contribution of Rs.50,000/- for 6 years or a onetime donation of 5 lacs can perpetuate a scholarship under this scheme.
High Cost Education Scheme (HCES)
The HCES programme has been in operation since the last 15 years. Financial help is given to students (who aredeservingandacademicallybright)forprofessionalcourses. HighCostEducationalScholarshipcanbeavailedbasedonthe annual expenditure (unmet need). It is expected that students repay a year's financial assistance through 24 equalinstallmentssoonaftertheyfinishtheircourse. Mostofthestudentsareveryco-operativeintheirrepaymentandwearehappy to state that during the last year 287 of our past students have been repaying their Scholarship amount in their individualcapacitywhile61havefinishedpayingofftheirscholarshipamountcompletelyduringthelastyear.Thiskindof anattitudehelpsimmenselyinthesuccessoftheprogramme.During the last year the HCES provided High cost Educational Scholarship to a value of 94.29 lacs to 183 students, of which 31 were Medical students, 102 Degree in Engineering, 16 Diploma in Engineering, 9 Professional Graduation, 2ProfessionalPostGraduation,15BusinessManagement,3C.A.,1B.Ed.,2D.Ed.,1C.S.,and1HMCT.
